Rob O’Neil received his BFA with a concentration in photography from the University of Akron, Ohio, and his MFA in Cinema and Photography from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
He currently lives in Albany, NY, and teaches Upper School photography at the Albany Academies, a college preparatory school. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Photography at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, until the Center for Art and Design program was eliminated. This move seems, in hindsight, a harbinger of even sadder things, as the College of Saint Rose shut its doors in May 2024.
While actively eschewing ‘hipsterism,’ he does seem inexplicably drawn to IPAs from small breweries and good coffee. Over the summer, he completely gutted his 1930s upstairs bathroom (which still needs to be done) and removed 9000 pounds of concrete, one 5-gallon bucket at a time. He is still sore.
