I grew up knowing nothing about baseball. I played youth soccer for a fall sometime in elementary school but was otherwise blissfully ignorant of sports. As a father of a 9-year-old, I now find myself entangled in the world of Little League. Phrases like “good cut,” “dig in,” “give it a ride,” “baseball ready,” and “give ‘em a big target” are all things I am now intimately familiar with and scream with abandon. Trying to understand this all through my photographs, I would like viewers to experience the rhythm and lull of Little League baseball. I hope that amidst the whirlwind of activity, the planned structure of the facilities, and the human interaction, they, like me, will understand the game a bit more.
